Chiropractic care is an effective treatment method for a variety of conditions...
Chiropractic therapies offer safe, non-invasive, effective treatment
Today's approach to healthcare is one of treating symptoms, not the cause. The remedy often includes surgery and/or drugs whose side effects can be worse than the disease. The problem with this approach is that drugs and surgery are the most aggressive remedies available and many common aches and pains can be addressed with much less invasive therapies. Pharmaceutical companies spend well over a billion dollars annually on marketing to consumers. No doubt you've seen the ads on TV with a cute elephant or other cartoon character pitching the latest wonder drug. These ads always include a long list of dire warnings.
A recent study by the CDC found that almost half of drug poisonings are now due to the abuse of prescription painkillers. Frequently prescribed pain drugs like Oxycontin and Vicodin are addictive narcotics and lose their effectiveness as tolerance increases, requiring increasingly larger doses to be effective. In 2013, drug overdose deaths were up for 11th consecutive year. Merck & Co.’s arthritis drug, Vioxx, is believed to have led to more than 27,000 heart attacks and sudden cardiac deaths before it was pulled from the market in 2004, and in 2010, painkillers Darvon and Darvocet were pulled from the market by they FDA because they "put patients at risk of potentially serious or even fatal heart rhythm abnormalities." Even non-prescription (OTC) pain relievers can be dangerous. For example, high doses of some commonly used drugs like ibuprofen can increase heart attacks, strokes and related deaths by about 33%.
Why not try a safe, drug-free alternative instead?
Neck Pain Relief
Our office offers a variety of treatment options including; chiropractic manipulation, hot and cold therapy, ultrasound and electrical muscle stimulation, active stretching and exercise. Your doctor will work with you to decide which treatment combination is right for you based on your health, history, and exam results. A recent study showed that chiropractic adjustment (spinal manipulation) and exercises are more effective than OTC pain relievers, prescription narcotic painkillers and muscle relaxers for pain in the neck and spine. The study concluded that "participants who received medication seemed to fare worse (than those who received chiropractic treatments and exercise), with a consistently higher use of pain medications for neck pain throughout the trial's observational period." We've helped hundreds of patients decrease their pain. Let us see if we can help you!Request an Appointment
An Alternative to Back Surgery
Back pain is one of the most common health complaints in the U.S. and throughout the world. While almost everyone will experience back pain at some point in their life, it is more common in those between 40 and 80 years old, and in women. Back pain can be due in part to an accident, the aging process, and can also be the result of sedentary lifestyles with too little exercise or aggressively beginning a new exercise program (such as Crossfit or P90X). The risk of experiencing low-back pain from disc disease or spinal degeneration increases with age, but in many cases, the exact cause of the pain cannot be found.
For most of us, an acute (short term) episode of lower back pain can last from a few weeks to three months. During this period back pain is said to be "resolving" and this is the appropriate time to begin conservative (meaning non-surgical/non-drug) treatment in order to: reduce pain, inflammation, and spasm; increase range of motion; decrease recovery time; and provide strengthening and conditioning for the back after symptoms have improved.Request an Appointment
Help for Migraine Headaches
Approximately 45 million Americans suffer from chronic headaches, and of them, 28 million suffer from migraines. A migraine headache can cause intense throbbing or a pulsing sensation in one area of the head and is commonly accompanied by nausea, vomiting, and extreme sensitivity to light and sound. While the exact cause of migraines is unknown, people desperate for relief have sought a variety of treatments from medical doctors, chiropractors and more. A recent study found that chiropractic is about as effective as amytriptyline, an antidepressant commonly prescribed for migraine treatment.
CHIROPRACTIC VS. DRUG SIDE EFFECTS
Chiropractic adjustments are safe and gentle with few, if any, side effects. In fact, chiropractors enjoy some of the lowest malpractice insurance rates of any health care professional. However, the possible side effects of amyitriptyline are: confusion, agitation, hallucinations, diarrhea, fever, sweating, trembling or shaking, fainting, fast or irregular heartbeat, muscle stiffness, skin rash or hives, changes in vision such as trouble focusing, constipation, drowsiness or dizziness, dry mouth, nausea, or weight changes, loss of interest in sex or loss of ability to have sex (impotence), sensitivity to sunlight, trouble going to the bathroom. We treat migraine and other types of headaches with a variety of non-invasive modalities including; joint manipulation, massage, herbal supplements, and nutritional recommendations.Request an Appointment
